I’ve been working on fountains this week that incorporate both stoneware and porcelain. These photos are of just assembled, unfired fountains — the yellow clay in the photos should turn terra cotta red in the first bisque firing, while the white clay should remain bright white. I’m hoping this will create interesting contrasts after it is glazed in the second firing

Oregon Pottery Workshop
I just spent a wonderful week at a workshop at an Oregon pottery studio, learning how to throw big things on the wheel in multiple pieces, attaching them and using a blowtorch to dry lower sections. The pots will be wood fired this fall at East Creek Art near Willamina, where the workshop was held.
